After 13 seasons, Klay Thompson’s run with the Golden State Warriors stopped as he joined the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, his Warriors teammates have begun to miss him. After Draymond Green, Stephen Curry shared his feelings about not having Klay as a teammate anymore.

“Not having Klay still hasn’t really sunk in… We’ve been doing it for 13 years together… I have this idea that in October [he’ll come back]… I know that’s not happening,” Curry said.

Curry and Thompson had been teammates since 2011, during which they set new standards for 3-point shooting. They are the only teammates to combine for more than 600 3-pointers in a season, recording an impressive 678 in the 2015-16 season. Together, the “Splash Brothers” won four NBA titles during their 13 seasons together.

Stephen Curry Supports Klay Thompson’s Need for Change

The end of Klay Thompson with the Golden State Warriors was not much expected. After unfollowing the team on Instagram, the situation took a dramatic turn as the negotiations between the parties did not meet expectations.

In an interview with NBA.com, Stephen Curry shared his thoughts on the matter, suggesting that parting ways was the best solution given the circumstances.

“That’s what it came down to: he was in need of a change. It wasn’t a situation where I needed to convince him to stay. I knew what he meant to our organization. It was just one of those situations where you have to trust he’s making the right decision for himself,” Curry said.

Despite the separation, Curry will never forget the Splash Brothers era. Although they are no longer teammates, Curry expressed his hopes for Thompson’s happiness in his future endeavors.

“At the end of the day I want him to be happy. He deserves to enjoy playing basketball however long he wants to play. It just (stinks) that it won’t be with us,” Curry added.
