More details of an alleged ‘bombshell’ recording that Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice expects will exonerate him of wrongdoing have been released.

Amanda Abbington reportedly told Giovanni Pernice he might want to throw her out of a window and apologized for being “a nightmare” during a six-and-a-half-minute exchange.

In footage reportedly acquired by The Sun, Amanda also acknowledged that she felt she was “difficult” to work with.

It comes after a TV interview with fellow 2023 Strictly contestant Krishnan Guru-Murthy on Channel 4 earlier this week saw her admit to producers she felt Giovanni “hated” her on day three.

Giovanni has previously said he feels he can clear his name completely, and has denied any allegations of wrongdoing.

However, a source connected to Amanda has suggested that the footage isn’t the “bombshell evidence” Giovanni’s team had billed it as being.

The source told the Sun that the footage merely forms part of “the type of everyday discussions that go on between partners and pros in rehearsals, which can, obviously, be very fraught”. They added: “The idea that this is some kind of ‘smoking gun’ that will exonerate Giovanni from his alleged behaviour is absurd.

“The transcript is just dialogue between the pair, Amanda is being self-deprecating and was clearly trying to cope in a difficult situation – she had no idea Giovanni was secretly recording her.“ Meanwhile, additional audio footage of the pair saying they “love” one another is also thought to be a piece of “evidence” following the allegations.

A spokesperson for Amanda told the newspaper: “These details don’t alter anything. As Amanda has repeatedly made clear, including when asked during an interview last week, she did her best to make things work.

“This included being open with Giovanni about her own shortcomings as a dancer and her awareness that this must have been difficult for him.”

Meanwhile, Giovanni’s spokesperson has downplayed the claims, saying: “We would urge people to wait for the review’s conclusion and not to pay heed to these very serious and defamatory allegations that have no evidence in support of them.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Amanda and Giovanni’s representatives for further comment.

It is believed only one complaint about the 33-year-old Sicilian dancer is being formally investigated by the BBC – which is Amanda’s grievance.

Express.co.uk previously revealed that former contestant Laura Whitmore felt “extremely uncomfortable” partnering with Giovanni in 2016 after her friend, former Corrie star, Georgia May Foote split up with him weeks before they were due to start dancing together.

Laura confirmed this afternoon that she has made no official complaint about him, but is supporting the investigation by discussing claims that have been made about his “inappropriate” behaviour.

Meanwhile, Amanda’s parents have expressed sympathy for Giovanni, suggesting that he’d had “no training in how to train”.
