Bon Jovi treated fans to an unexpected five-song set in Nashville on Friday, June 7. The intimate performance marked the grand opening of JBJ’s, Jon Bon Jovi’s new rooftop bar and restaurant. It was also that same day their sixteenth studio album, Forever was released.

This surprise show was notably significant given the ongoing concerns about Jon Bon Jovi’s voice. After undergoing vocal surgery in 2022, the singer has faced a challenging recovery. Recently, he confirmed that while he is “more than capable of singing again,” a full-scale tour is out of the question, stating that “two and a half hours a night, four nights a week” is not feasible.

Despite these challenges, Bon Jovi’s voice, though slightly pitchy, showed strength during the Nashville set. The frontman brought his signature energy to the small stage, dancing and encouraging the audience to sing along.

Setlist Highlights From Bon Jovi’s Surprise Performance

The band kicked off the performance with “Blood on Blood,” a powerful track from their 1988 album New Jersey. According to Setlist.fm, this was the first time “Blood on Blood” had been played live since 2019.

Midway through the set, Jon Bon Jovi addressed his absence from performing. He shared:

“It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been up on a stage with some people in the house.
“Too long, too long. Yeah, it feels good. I hope it sounds good, because it feels good.”

He also highlighted Nashville’s significance to Bon Jovi’s history, mentioning the extensive time they spent writing and recording in the city. “I always jokingly say, Nashville, this is my people.”

Among the celebrities who attended the event were Motley Crue’s Vince Neil, Jelly Roll, and Big Kenny from Big and Rich. The night’s highlights included a spirited rendition of “You Give Love a Bad Name” and a performance of “Legendary,” the lead single from Forever. The other songs on their setlist included “We Weren’t Born to Follow” and “Born to Be My Baby.”
