Jake Paul Proposes Rule Change Ahead Of Mike Tyson Fight At New York Press Conference

At the launch press conference for his highly anticipated match against Mike Tyson, Jake Paul made a bold statement, challenging Tyson’s endurance and proposing a significant change to their fight’s format.

The press event, held in New York, saw the two fighters face off as they prepared for their rescheduled bout on November 15. The fight is currently scheduled for eight two-minute rounds. However, Paul has suggested extending the duration, arguing that it would better showcase his skills and fortitude.

Paul, who has gained notoriety as a YouTube star-turned-boxer, has a reputation for stirring up controversy. During the press conference, he offered to increase the round length from two minutes to three minutes, questioning Tyson’s readiness and stamina. “Be in shape, be in good shape because your health depends on it,” Tyson advised Paul from the main stage.

Paul responded directly, “You’re the one that wanted eight, two-minute rounds. Want to make it eight, threes? Don’t talk to me about shape.” His proposal was a clear attempt to provoke Tyson and challenge the traditional fight setup.

Despite the provocative offer, Tyson did not agree to the change and warned Paul to be cautious with his demands. “That’s the thing, everyone is all talk. I’ll do whatever, wherever, whenever, it’s all talk,” Paul fired back, emphasizing his willingness to take on any challenge.

The fight, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR), will feature a modified rule set, including 14oz gloves instead of the standard 10oz gloves used in professional boxing. Tyson previously mentioned that he favored shorter rounds to encourage more action, but Paul’s latest challenge adds another layer of intrigue.

With the fight set to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, anticipation is building. Tyson, who has been preparing intensely, warned Paul that he would be elusive but vulnerable to a decisive blow. “Hey listen, he’s going to be running around but as soon as I catch this guy it’s going to be totally over,” Tyson said.

Paul, unfazed by Tyson’s warning, is eager to meet Tyson in the center of the ring and showcase his readiness. “Nah, we can meet in the middle and buck it out, let’s go!” Paul declared.

As the fight approaches, fans and analysts are eager to see how these proposed changes will impact the bout and whether Jake Paul’s bold strategy will pay off against the seasoned boxing legend.
