After Jonathan Huberdeau’s comments on the Florida Panthers’ Stanley Cup win, he faced online backlash from fans across the league.

Huberdeau spent 10 seasons with the Panthers before joining the Calgary Flames, and admitted it was really tough for him to watch his former team win the Cup, seeing as he failed to achieve that dream with them for a decade.

Jonathan Huberdeau spoke for the first time after Florida won the Stanley Cup and talked about the feelings of watching his former team win it all 🗣️

Fans were quick to be on the attack towards Huberdeau, calling him out on various social media sites.

They wouldn’t have won with him

I feel for him, but a big reason they lifted the Cup is because they traded him away for Tkachuk. Same situation as the Raptors trading DeRozan for Kawhi.

If Huberdeau was better in the playoffs, he wouldn’t be watching his old teammates hosting the Cup, he could’ve been lifting it with them.

Despite all the criticism he’s been facing, Huberdeau has remained positive and had nothing but great things to say about his former teammates, really giving props to Barkov and Ekblad.

The $84 million dollar man hasn’t lived up to the hype since joining the Flames, and has never been able to re-create that spectacular year he had wirh the Panthers, where he put up 115 points during the 2021-22 season. Flames fans are hoping he, along with the rest of their team, will be able to turn the situation around rather quickly, so that Huberdeau can lift the Cup himself one day.
