Kevin Durant has been known to be one of the biggest humanitarian athletes since he was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics in 2007, now known as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The two-time NBA champion is spending some time in Sweden during the offseason. On Saturday, he visited local suburbs in Stockholm to surprise young basketball players and played with them in their local hoops.

Durant attempted threes alongside the children while wearing sunglasses and an oversized jacket.

The area is specifically at Tensta, Stockholm, with the local basketball club VGB. Durant was there for the Brilliant Minds conference with Boardroom, which Durant co-founded.

The Brilliant Minds Foundation is a global platform that collaborates with creative personalities to create world-changing ideas. Meanwhile, Boardroom is a sports, entertainment and media brand.

Durant also owns and founded the Durant Family Foundation, which kickstarted his humanitarian initiatives while playing in the NBA.

Kevin Durant shoots down fan’s idea of him returning to OKC

As aforementioned, Durant started his career with the Supersonics and the OKC Thunder, establishing himself as one of the most lethal scorers in the NBA, winning his lone regular season MVP award in 2014.

However, Durant left Oklahoma City on a sour note, joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016 to form a super team with the team that previously defeated him in the Western Conference finals.

After winning two championships with the Warriors, Durant’s legacy has always been tainted by his decision to join an already-established powerhouse. In that vein, one fan suggested a move to mend that heavily criticized move.

“The only way KD can redeem his legacy is if he returns to the Thunder and wins them their first ever championship. LeBron style. Then all his sins will be forgiven. We good?” a fan said, while also mentioning Durant’s X handle.

Durant replied to the post, shooting down the idea of his return to OKC.

“U ain’t god. Go get ready for work,” Durant said.

Now, with the Phoenix Suns, Durant is playing in the same conference as the Thunder. Playoff success has been elusive for Durant in recent years as he had never reached the conference finals since 2019 when he was still with the Warriors.

Even at the advanced age of 35, Durant can still contribute well. Last season, he averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists, though losing via sweep in the first round versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.
