Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy posted a minute-long rant criticizing Skylar Diggins-Smith for ‘assaulting’ Caitlin Clark after the Indiana Fever defeated the Seattle Storm, 92-75.

Portnoy voiced his opinion about Diggins-Smith complaining to the officials after losing the game even when she disrespectfully bumped Clark in the fourth quarter.

“Imagine that you bump her and then you have the audacity to complain about them,” Portnoy said. “Just play ball, you didn’t hear Indiana crying when they started 1-9, they just got up. That’s Assault!”

Portnoy posted the video on his X account and added the caption:

“The WNBA doesnt know how to handle Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever,” Portnoy wrote.

The 47-year-old businessman asked the Seattle Storm and other WNBA teams’ players to ‘grow up.’ He then praised Clark for not backing down and standing up to her opponents when she saw them complaining to the officials and arguing with her coach late in the game.

The Indiana Fever did not have the best start to the 2024 WNBA season, however, they have successfully turned it around. On Sunday, they went up against the Seattle Storm and won the game by 17 points.

The Fever dominated the Storm and outscored them in the last three quarters. Caitlin Clark had another strong performance and narrowly missed out on a double-double. She scored 23 points, collected five rebounds, and dished out nine crucial assists in the win.

Kelsey Mitchell also had a solid game on Sunday as she recorded 27 points, with two rebounds and three assists while Aliyah Boston had a near triple-double performance. The reigning Rookie of the Year had nine points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.

The Indiana Fever is currently third in the Eastern Conference with a 13-15 record. The team’s next game is against the Minnesota Lynx on August 25.
