Greg, who portrays Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives, took to Instagram on Thursday to share photos of him hooked up to an oxygen tank in a hospital.

The 50-year-old gave a thorough explanation of what was happening in case fans thought he was on the set of the long-running soap opera.

“Life is like a box of chocolates, ‘you never know whatcha gonna get!’ I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera,” the father-of-three wrote in the beginning of his caption.

“This trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!”

He revealed that amid the outing he dubbed the “Father & Sons Colorado Spring Break,” he had started having “shortness of breath climbing a few flights of stairs” on day one.

Additionally, the TV star found himself to be wheezy, struggling with some congestion along with having a brewing headache.

“I had hydrated all day, so into the night I drank a bottle of Pedialyte and NyQuil’d myself out to be ready to tackle BRECK w/the boys the next morning,” Greg wrote.

After a night of headaches, coughing, and no sleep, in addition to a day of trying to self-recover, the actor finally surrendered.

Greg wrote in the last two paragraphs of his caption: Two full days gone, enough was enough, I finally surrendered & went to urgent care and to my shock I learned that I was experiencing severe altitude sickness!

“My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids! Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….”

ALL IS WELL?

Shortly after the abovementioned post, Greg shared a snap of the face of his Apple watch in a separate post on Instagram on Thursday.

“Blood Oxygen 94%. Measurement taken in a high elevation environment,” the Apple watch read.

“Well, 4hrs later, a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to my face, I was told that I needed to immediately get off the mountain,” Greg captioned.

“However I couldn’t, we still had another day to go & wanting the boys to enjoy their last day on the hill tops!” his caption continued.

“I opted to go home with an oxygen tank, a good laugh for everyone, and I know will follow, but my boys looked after their old man & fortunately they had friends on this trip!

“In all seriousness, no matter your age, and all the times I’ve [ski emoji] &[snowboard emoji] in my lifetime, Colorado Rockies is no joke!”

“As they say, ‘take a breathe and smell the roses!’ That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate!” he concluded.

OUT OF COMMISSION

Greg has starred on Days of Our Lives since 2012.

Last year, Greg was temporarily replaced by General Hospital star Jason Gerhardt after a positive COVID diagnosis.

Jason is well-known for his role as Cooper Barrett on the drama General Hospital as well as General Hospital: Night Shift.

Greg took to X, previously Twitter, to explain the situation with Days of our Lives.

“Unfortunately, I tested Positive for Covid & TPTD had to keep moving forward & thanks to our incredible #marniesaitta casting; my old friend / Castmate Jason Gerhart stepped in that week for 4/5 shows,” Greg wrote.

But he made sure to add that this wasn’t a permanent change by any means. “FYI… this temporary fill in was over 3 months ago!!”
