Mike Perry confident in beating Jake Paul: “I’m going to hit him and he’s not going to like it”

The former UFC fighter stepped in after Mike Tyson’s fight had to be postponed until November 15

The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. Mike Perry would like to take advantage of this quote ahead of his upcoming boxing debut against social media star Jake Paul later this month.

Mike Perry jumped in to replace ex-boxer Mike Tyson as Paul’s opponent after he had to pull out due to a stomach ulcer. The former UFC fighter and still bare-knuckle boxer did not wait at all to propose himself as the replacement for the fight, as he has called for a clash with Paul for so long.

His experience plays a key role

Perry holds a record of 14 wins and 8 losses in UFC, which make him a very dangerous and tough opponent for a nearly amateur fighter like Jake Paul. But that do not seem like a problem for the YouTube star, as he has fought with ex-fighter Tommy Fury before. He lost but he also stood himself up for a fair amount of time.

By other hand, Perry is confident he can knockout Paul and keep in his wave of success. Rarely Paul has gotten into heavyweight fights, apart from the one he had with Fury he has always been used to cruiserweight (light heavyweight) fights. Knowing that Perry is also heavyweight it could be a differential factor for the fight, where Perry has a head start.

“I’m going to hit him and he’s not going to like it. Im going to chase him around the ring, I’m going to make him tired and keep that pressure on him. In training it’s not about what he does; I don’t watch tape, I really don’t. Maybe my people do, but if I watched anything it would be highlights from the Tommy Fury fight” he told Morning Kombat.

He did not even hesitate while addressing Paul’s fight with Fury: “It was a close fight but Tommy beat him. It seems a little amateurish, Tommy’s defence wasn’t great and he got a hit a few times but he took them well. I believe I will take them even better and land better shots back. Tommy boxed him, he backed up and moved. We’ll see, depending on my speed and footwork on the night, I’m looking to come forward, cut angles, get to the side and punch him straight down the pipe. It’s about what I do, not what he does.“

Jake stays positive on his chances

Even though his fight against Mike Tyson has been postponed until November 15, Jake Paul is positive he can still beat Perry and it will not upset his plans. In fact, he considers that Perry is the perfect rival to get ready for the fight against what he calls ‘Iron Mike’. Surprisingly, he even praises Perry by recognizing his knockout skills: “He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. As I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry” Jake said.
